Dermatitis (Eczema) and Patch Testing
Allergic Contact Dermatitis
We specialize in the care of patients with allergic contact dermatitis. Allergic contact dermatitis usually presents itself as skin rash and is caused by an immune-related reaction to a chemical. Poison ivy is a common cause of allergic contact dermatitis. Another example is allergy to an ingredient in shampoo.
Systemic Medications
We have many years of experience managing all forms of dermatitis and eczema with systemic medications and phototherapy (light treatment). We are experts in eczema medications, new and old, how best to prescribe them for patients, and their side effect profiles.
Comprehensive Patch Testing
Patch Testing is a procedure designed to find the source of allergic contact dermatitis. At Distinctive Dermatology, we can patch test for many common ingredients in personal care products. Dr. Amber Atwater is an international expert in patch testing.
Specialized Patch Testing
We don't limit our patch testing to a handful of ingredients. We use the North American Contact Dermatitis Group (NACDG) screening series (which tests for common ingredients) and can patch test for reactions to implanted materials (knees, hips,, other), dental components, textiles, shoes, rubber, cosmetics, hairdressing chemicals, corticosteroids, cosmetics, fragrances/botanicals/essential oils and others. We also perform occupational patch testing.
Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema)
We are experts in the care of patients with atopic dermatitis (also known as eczema). We can help you to find the best treatment option for your eczema, based on the most cutting edge scientific evidence.
Dermatitis
We love helping patients find ways to improve their dermatitis. Dermatitis means "skin inflammation" and there are many possible causes. We look forward to working with you to find the cause and best treatment for you.
Our goal is to improve the look and feel of your skin.
